Cebu DIY: How to Make Your Own Faux Brick Wall
Cebu is one of the oldest cities in the Philippines. Filled with historical and classical architecture, it’s but fitting to reflect its rich and elegant designs to your home. If you own a house and lot in Cebu, you could start jazzing up your place with a DIY faux brick wall. Brick walls have this certain European appeal to them and their rustic texture adds character and warmth to any space.
Doesn’t this living room look all spruced up? You might think that the process looks unattainable but it’s not. The cost of a DIY faux brick wall wouldn’t cost as much as the pre-made one and it isn’t that hard to do! You just need these materials:
Once you’ve finished doing that, outline your brick patterns using the plank/ruler. Here’s a pattern to get you started:
It would be more convenient to use a plastic welder. All you need to do is hover it on the lines and it would do all the work for you. This creates a realistic effect on the board. If you don’t have one, you can carve out the lines by using a sharp object. Add some dents for a more genuine look. You’re doing it right if it somehow looks like this:
4) Paint it!
A very important reminder: Use latex or acrylic paint. Other types of paint will either melt the Styrofoam or will not stick. If you want a basic finish, use the white paint.
If you’re opting for a more regal, classical look, you can use the brown paint.
Let the panels dry. This would take several hours.
5) Hang it
Using adhesives is okay but using nails is better. It gives the panel a stronger hold. This would prevent the foam from falling off.
There are several tutorials on how to do the DIY faux brick wall but here’s an easy one:
Now, if you’re planning on selling a house and lot in Cebu, don’t you think this is a great innovation in making the place more marketable?

- Styrofoam insulation board

- plastic welder but if you don’t have one, you can substitute it with any kind of scraping tool

1) Choose your wall
Make sure that the Styrofoam you bought fits your intended wall. Watch out for electrical outlets and light switch plates.

2) Outline
If the insulation foam comes with a silver coating, remove it first. Once you have it removed, get your plank or ruler. A plank piece would be more accurate but if it’s not available, you could use a ruler. Just make sure the drawings will be of the same size. Lay your wood or ruler horizontally on the Styrofoam and draw lines all the way down.
